Farm Gate Futures

The Farm Gate Futures project aimed to help Tasmanian primary producers branch out, generate new income streams, and build on-farm resilience through agritourism opportunities.

The focus of this project is to build each farmer’s ability to adapt to change that may include impacts as a result of changing market conditions, climate, changing technologies or responses to crisis impacts such as floods and drought. The project also works to generate opportunities for farmers by facilitating collaboration across industry sectors, expanding farmers’ existing networks, and shifting the way they think about their business and the region they operate in.

As part of this project, Regionality Pty Ltd is delivering their Agritourism Business Development Program (ABDP).

The Other Side of the Gate honours our journey with Opening the Gate and celebrates the stories of participants involved in the project.

Opening its pages will give you a chance to see some of the wonderful aspects of agritourism in Tasmania that we have been privileged to help bring to life.

The Tasmanian Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub – known as the Tas Farm Innovation Hub – is one of eight established across Australia by the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.

The Hub helps Tasmanian farmers, and those who support them, to build valuable relationships and access critical information.

Through the Hub, people and organisations in the agriculture industry build knowledge to drive innovation in their businesses, care for land and waterways, and enhance community wellbeing.

Diverse partners and network supporters across a spectrum of values, expertise and experience are working together to increase farmers’ access to knowledge and adoption of practices that ensure financial, social and environmental resilience to climate change and variability.

The Hub also seeks to enhance community wellbeing to mitigate the increasing risk of drought and other extreme climatic events.
